What is Granite?

Granite is an igneous rock. It is the oldest building material known to man and is formed from liquid magma found at the core of our planet. Granite usually occurs as small, less than 110 km sq. stock-like masses and as large batholiths often associated with orogenic mountain ranges.

Granite Tiles

To make the granite tiles, blocks of the rocks are obtained from the quarries and sent to the factories where they are first cut to make slabs.   Granite slabs are usually 2 or 3 CM thick and may be processed to give different lengths and widths, depending on their purpose. The slabs can be used to make countertops, Vanity tops etc. To make granite tiles, the slabs are further cut, and processed to give different sizes and surface finishing such as polished, waterjet, flamed, chiseled, etc.

Because granites are natural stones, they are found all over the world. Stone manufacturers usually engage other companies for blocks that they may have interest in but are not licensed to directly get them from their quarry. This may be within or outside the country.

Granite Maintenance

There are different products that are available in the market for cleaning granite tiles, but this may not be required as the tiles can be cleaned with just water and a clean rag.
